Kanye West…Fauxcialite Extraordinaire

February 10th, 2009

Soooo…is there anything about this photo that needs to be said?  That’s the Kanye West off center and a few of his closest comrades as they pose during Paris’ Fashion Week after the Comme Des Garcons show.  The guy in the cheetah leggings is Taz Arnold, fellow designer and musician, who accompanied Kanye to the Lanvin show below and then proceeded to hug it out with fashion maven Diane Pernet…Could these guys possibly be anymore Fauxcialite if they wanted to?  Via Jak & Jil

Karl Lagerfeld & Claudia Schiffer: Wherever the champagne may flow….

January 12th, 2009

So this is kind of a crazy idea, but once you realize Karl Lagerfeld is involved, its like “Oh yeah, totally!”. Dom Perignon has enlisted Karl over the years to shoot elaborate advertisements for their luxe line of champagne, but I guess in 2009 they wanted to up the ante a little bit. In celebration of their 1995 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque, they commissioned Lagerfeld to design a porcelain bowl modeled after Claudia Schiffer’s breasts that rests on three miniature Dom bottles with Claudia and Karl’s signatures. The bowl itself was modeled after a bowl made especially for Marie Antoinette in 1787, who supposedly had a long history of making esteemed replicas of her own body parts. According to legend and Wine Spectator (I don’t know which is more believable), Marie’s bowl was the exact size of one of her breasts. The “paper mache” mold (wtf) that Claudia used has yet to make the paparazzi / Ebay / Craigslist rounds though. All you have to do to obtain this insanely necessary conversation piece is buy a 1995 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque bottle package for $3,150, and Claudia’s homage will become all yours. This is such a crazy concept, but when Karl gets involved any resemblance to reality is tossed out the window. This definitely upstages the Neiman Marcus Steiff Karl Lagerfeld bear, but if you got the bear & the bowl, they’d probably get along very swimmingly, don’t you think?

The FAUX-LIDAYS are here!

December 17th, 2008

The fauxlidays are here and we are ready to charge, charge, charge until we drop. Bullshit! In these tough times don’t be afraid to FAKE it. We are all about FAKE LVs especially these ones. Turns out you can’t purchase these hot tamales, they are illegal. Ben Correa is a fashion guerilla activist with a mission to liberate label slaves. It will take more than that to liberate us. But we do agree, why drop a G when you could spend a fraction of that and let your creative animal out? FAKE ME now.
